Celtic Equine Vets
Your local independent practice setting the standard in equine veterinary and dental care.
Celtic at a Glance
We are a four vet equine-only veterinary practice based just off junction 2 of the M27, on the edge of the New Forest. We cover an area of a 25 mile radius from our office in Ower, covering West Dorset, South Wilshire, East Hampshire and all of The New Forest.
Celtic Equine Vets was founded by Alan in 2010, with the vision of providing a personal, reliable and professional veterinary service delivered by experienced equine vets. From the happy hack and pet donkey to the professional athlete – we know that your equid is invaluable to you. That’s why we endeavour to bring the highest level of routine and emergency care right to your stable-side. This is facilitated by portable X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and gastroscopy. Recognising the location, much of our equipment is battery-operated, allowing us to operate without mains electric.
The diverse interests of the vets in our practice allows us to ‘cover all bases’. Alan has been awarded a certificate in Equine Practice and has a particularly strong interest in equine dentistry and reproduction. Chloe is a qualified independent nutritionist and is studying for a certificate in equine internal medicine and to become a qualified equine behaviourist. Molly is passionate about equine lameness and poor performance and is a qualified equine veterinary chiropractor.
Our staff are the heart of our practice
Meet the veterinary surgeons and office team that make up the Celtic Equine Vets family. “I have been using Celtic Equine Vets since they started the practice and I would 100% recommend them. I have had 2 visits in the last week, one of which was an emergency. Alan was amazing in treating our mare who had colic, it was a very upsetting couple of days but thanks to Alan she is now doing great. Chloe visited us this week for routine dental treatment and was very thorough and explained what she had found, she spent time talking through ways we could overcome the mares behaviour/trust issues which will really help.” – DS (Client)
“Very knowledgeable and quick to respond to emails and telephone calls. They don’t instigate unnecessary visits and they work with you, your horse, and your circumstances. Explanations are pitched to your level of understanding. It’s clear every member of staff is a horse specialist, and they truly care about your horse and you.
Highly recommend.” – FD (Client)
“I can’t recommend Celtic Equine Vets enough, Alan and his teams knowledge and professionalism are second to none. The staff in the office are super organised, helpful and friendly.
You can always count on Celtic Equine Vets to be there for you and your horse they have the latest diagnostic equipment and its so much easier to be able to have detailed work ups/investigation/treatments etc carried out at your yard.” – JB (Client)
“My pony had developed quite a needle phobia after needing a lot of procedures over the winter. Chloe has been absolutely fantastic using positive behaviour techniques to desensitise her. With great patience and good humour she was able to do a dental check and take a blood sample with no drama at all. Cannot thank her enough.” – AC (Client)
“I couldn’t be more impressed with Celtic Vets. The reception staff are so helpful and the vets are so kind and follow up on appointments out of courtesy because they really care.” – EW (Client)

“I can highly recommend Celtic Equine! Alan and Kirsty’s care for my horse was second-to-none when he was struggling with a cough which; after presenting in a slightly puzzling way, they managed to identify as equine asthma. The knowledge, skills, kindness and all the incredible equipment they offered us to get to the bottom of the problem was outstanding. And all during the Christmas period too! They have been so good with both ponies not just for the bigger things but throughout – routine dentals and vaccinations also. A big thank you to the admin team is also a must, they are all so helpful and smiley and everyone has kept in touch at all times. They provide a very personal service

“Celtic vets have cared for my horses for many years, always with compassion & professionalism. Their huge variety of mobile diagnostic equipment makes life so much easier for me, not having to travel to the practice. Their visits are punctual and unrushed.
